This tea tip (learn something new and useful in the time it takes to make and drink your cup of tea!) will show you how to attach tassels onto a scarf. Sometimes a handmade scarf needs that little something extra and tassels may be just the thing!
To add tassels you will need your scarf, some wool for your tassels, a crochet hook and a pair of scissors. I used a 9mm crochet hook because the wool I used was super chunky.
Cut yourself some lengths of your wool, approximately four times longer than you want your finished tassel to be. If in doubt make it longer, as you can always trim it down to size. Fold each piece of wool in half and then cut the looped end to make two pieces the same length.
Lay your scarf down, right side up. Pop your crochet hook, from back to front, through a stitch on the end of your scarf. Loop a tassel over the end of your crochet hook and pull this gently through the stitch. Take away your hook and pass the two cut ends through the loop. Gently tighten this until your tassel is in place. I’ve popped a piece of paper on top of my scarf to make this step easier to see in the photos below.
Keep adding tassels to the edge of your scarf until you are happy! Trim the ends so that they sit neatly together.
One completed scarf! I hope you enjoyed your cup of tea (and biscuit)!
