Sprout makes : Sponge painting

Our latest painting craze is to use sponges! We use make up sponges because they are close textured so each shape comes out nice and defined. They are also easy to cut into different shapes, reusable and great value for money (I bought a big bag from the pound shop). We have been using them to make gorgeous patterns and textures, whilst identifying colours and shapes.

It’s a great way of using up the last bits of paint and mixing and layering colours.

Sprout wanted to use the circle sponge to make a moon picture so we painted the sponge before printing to make a more solid impression.

When we have finished printing I wash them out under the tap with the paintbrushes and leave them to dry for next time. Happy printing!
