So far this week I have wrapped up my presents in knitted ribbon and felt tinsel! Today I am going to use felt again, but this time I am going to use my sewing machine too!
Simply pick your favourite Christmas colours and cut out a series of stars from felt. I varied the size of my stars to make my garland more interesting and picked white thread so that it would stand out against my brown wrapping paper. Feed your shapes into your sewing machine, leaving small gaps in between. Keep your foot down on the pedal and “sew” between the shapes. This will twist the top thread and the bobbin thread together and make your garland strong.
Just like the felt tinsel wrapping yesterday, this star garland can be used as a sweet decoration once the gift has been given and opened. To attach it to your parcel, tie the two ends of cotton together.
I hope you have enjoyed my wrapping inspiration posts this week, happy wrapping!
I love this! Very simple but looks great 🙂
Thank you Louise!
Do you think this would work without a sewing machine?
It wouldn’t turn out quite the same but you could certainly thread shapes onto cotton and that would make a lovely garland!
