I love making new Christmas decorations every year and this tree made using a card base and felt leaves is the newest addition to my collection! I’ve made mine with felt leaves because it gives the tree great texture and shape, but you could also use paper.
To make your very own tree you will need felt for your leaves, a pair of scissors and glue. You could use fabric glue or PVA but I used my glue gun so that it dried quickly. You will also need to print out the templates for the base and the leaves which you can find here. I printed my tree base onto a sheet of thin card so that it would hold its shape nicely.
Cut out your templates and then fold your base around to make a cone shape. Secure it in place with a piece of tape on the inside. Cut out several leaves, using your largest template. Starting at the bottom, stick your leaves to your base, overlapping them slightly as you go. As you get close to the middle of your tree, switch to cutting out medium sized leaves. Finally as you reach the top, use the smallest template.
