Last night I finished my very first skirt at the dressmaking workshop at Make. I picked some gorgeous fabric three weeks ago and every Monday night since I have been learning how to sew darts, insert a concealed zip and stitch a waistband. I’m really proud to say that my skirt fits me and I am already planning what I would like to make next!
George, it looks terrific. I love the fabric that you’ve used.
Thank you Annette – we got to pick from all of the lovely fabrics in Make!
Love it! I definitely could do with a refresher – another one on the list!
Thank you Emma!
Fab skirt, love your choice of fabric! I am itching to get a sewing machine so I can make clothes! Would you recommend starting off by learning to hand sew really well before getting a machine?
Thank you! When you make clothes you will still need some basic hand sewing knowledge for the finishing touches (like sewing on buttons) but by no means do you need to be an expert π
wow it looks fab, love the fabric.
Thank you – we got to pick from all the amazing fabrics at Make – I’ll have to take you there when you next visit.
Wow well done, it’s gorgeous! You can have lots of super proud “thanks I made it” moments π it’s inspired me to get myself into gear and book a course
Thank you Danni – that is brilliant!
Skirt is really cute! Do you go to a regular sewing group? I’m looking for something informal and socially in southsea π
Thank you Lucy! There is a social night at Make every Wednesday from 7 to 9pm and you bring whatever you are working on – and there is tea & cake too! Everyone is lovely and very friendly – come and join us π
