Adorable Knits for Tiny Tots is one in a series of nine lovely knitting books from The Craft Library. For this book Zoe Mellor has designed 25 great patterns for your little ones, sized from 6 months to 4 years old.
The book is written in four sections, cotton candy, fun to wear, wrap up warm and heads, toes and little hands. There is a good mix of patterns for all the seasons and the small accessories like the banded mittens would make great presents for a new baby.
This book is perfect for someone who wants to make beautiful, fun, practical clothes. If you haven’t already tried colour work, this book will make you want to learn! There are designs for hearts, stars, boats, strawberries and more. I love the variety of edgings and techniques used throughout the patterns, bobbles, zips, buttonholes, pom poms, tassels and frilled sleeves can all be learnt from this book.
The useful information section at the back of the book is brilliant and has a needle conversion chart, both UK and US terminology, loads of knitting abbreviations and explains how to substitute yarns. The diagrams for how to sew your pieces together and how to block the finished garment are also really clear.
Top of my must knit list is the adorable moss stitch baby slippers. Then once I have knitted those and learnt how to read the colour work charts I’m going to knit the heart cardigan and the hearts and stars blanket!
