This tutorial covers plastic bases and you can find the tutorial for metal bases here. To make your buttons you will need some plastic cover buttons, scraps of fabric, needle and thread and a pair of scissors.

Cut out a circle of fabric, it will need to be approximately twice the diameter of your button.

Thread your needle and sew a running stitch all the way around the edge of your fabric circle. Leave your needle and thread attached and pop your button, top side down in the middle of your circle. Pull gently on the thread and it will gather up around your button. Then insert your needle across the top of the button so that it catches fabric on the other side. Sew a few stitches through and knot your thread.
