I pedalled through the cold today to see the conclusion of a project by Guerilla Knitters, a knitting group who meet at the art stop cafe in Eastney Community Centre. They have been knitting up a storm in order to transform the bus shelter on Eastney Road by Bransbury Park into a living room for the day! The installation is “a comment on homelessness and the financial crisis that grips the country at the present time”. Its a brilliant and creative way to get people interested and talking about current issues. The knitted living room is going to be installed in other places around Portsmouth so keep your eyes peeled. Check out their Facebook page here for updates on this and upcoming projects.

Love the knitted living room.It looks so cosy especially in the cold weather. I Particularly like the standard lamp.
Its so bright and cheery as well! It would certainly brighten up an otherwise boring commute to work.
That is brilliant! It certainly looks better than the normal bus stops.
Keep an eye out and you might see it in the flesh!
I’ve always wondered who knits the tree and bench covers that appear around Southsea – such a great idea and lovely to link up their fb page – thanks š
They are great aren’t they?!
Reblogged this on Zealotry and commented:

I love your idea of providing lovely chairs for people so that people can rest their weary legs.
